Leeds casino pays tribute to Las Vegas

2006-10-27 15:39:01

A casino in Leeds in the United Kingdom will mark its 20th birthday celebrations by paying tribute to world gambling capital Las Vegas.

The Napoleons casino began life in 1982 as a basement-only facility, during which time its typically tense gambling atmosphere led to it being known as The Pit. Four years later it became Napoleons after moving to a more upmarket location.

Now a week of events in the finest Las Vegas tradition are set to wow gamblers across the city. Beginning on November 27th, Napoleons will offer food, drinks and of course gaming as part of the week's celebrations.

Prize draws and free champagne will also be on offer, with the hardcore gamblers being rewarded with a free breakfast if they make it through the night.

"It's going to be a fabulous week. As well as marking two decades at our existing venue, it will also be a 'thank you' to our members for all their support over the years," said casino administrator Glenda Spandler, speaking to the Leeds Evening Post.

Leeds Council recently announced that it intended to fight to be chosen as the location for the UK's only super casino, despite being left off the original shortlist by the government.
