Grosvenor Casinos officials have met with Luton's religious leaders as part of a bridge-building initiative ahead of a proposed casino development in the town.
As the UK braces itself for an explosion of new gambling opportunities, casino executives, including Grosvenor UK chief Paul Armitage, met with a group of Luton Churches representatives to discuss the matter.
The site of the proposed development, near Luton airport, is being seen as a highly attractive one by a number of potential investors, who are eager to get the community onside.
Discussions continued as it was revealed that there are now some 2,300 online gambling websites available to users online, with the UK at the head of the gambling boom. Online gambling levels within the country have now reached record levels, while there are now some 8,000 betting and gaming outlets open across the country.
Luton itself already hosts one Grosvenor Casino, but the operator is keen to secure a second location that would enable it to increase its offerings in the area. The existing venue currently hosts ten slot machines and twelve table games.
