eCogra announces new online regulations

2006-12-13 15:11:10

Industry body eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance (eCogra) has announced a new set of online gambling regulations, aimed at providing a more secure gaming experience for web users.

Under the new standards, a dedicated team will be set up to monitor sites and services to ensure that they comply with industry rules and ordinances.

Professionals from eCogra, including those who have online gaming experience and have worked at some of the world's biggest auditing firms, will now oversee sites and provide players with a degree of security.

Prior to the announcement the role was outsourced to separate auditing firms, but now internal company directors will manage accreditation and regulatory issues, the body has announced.

"These dedicated resources will allow us greater flexibility to meet the continually varying demands of our industry and to respond to the players' demands for a safe and rewarding online gambling experience," said eCogra chief executive Andrew Beveridge.
