The Casino Advisory Panel (CAP) has been asked to recommend locations for 17 new casinos across the UK by the end of December.
At the current time, local authorities from 68 regions have submitted an application to house one of the new developments, with little time left before the deadline expires.
Permission for one regional casino with floor space of 150,000 square feet, plus eight large casinos with 50,000 square feet and eight small casinos (30,000 sq ft) will be allocated according to CAP's recommendations.
Large-scale regional casino developments may include hotel accommodation, conference facilities, restaurants, bars, areas for live entertainment and other leisure attractions.
The regional locations currently short-listed are: Blackpool, Cardiff, Glasgow, Greenwich, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield.
The developments are expected to raise large quantities of revenue for the targeted areas and the CAP has been asked to consider which areas are most in need of financial rejuvenation.
Competition amongst investors to own one of these profitable businesses should be high, since Labour's current policies are allowing for the growth of the market.
