British Poker Tour announced for 2007

Following the worldwide success of the World Poker Tour (WPT) and the European Poker Tour (EPT), a new tournament series has been announced for the UK.

The Great British Poker Tour (GBPT) will be run in association with Gala Casinos and will feature five televised events, beginning on February 21st.

Each televised event will run for three days, with the first to be held in Edinburgh. The £2,500 buy-in grand final will be held in October, offering players the chance to win a trip to next year's Five Diamond World Poker Classic at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.

Tours such as the European Poker Tour have proved phenomenally successful in recent years, with many online poker sites providing web-based players with the chance to transfer their skills to a televised setting.

The growing number of online players has meant that experienced players have had to adapt their games to cope with the influx of new competitors, whose internet experience means they arrive with an entirely different set of tactics.
