Mansion Poker advertising scheme 'has failed'

2007-01-18 16:06:59

An online casino has admitted that its expensive sponsorship deal with an English Premiership football club has failed to produce the desired results.

Mansion Poker said that its £34 million deal with Tottenham Hotspur has failed, leading to a reconsideration of its options.

With rumours circulating that the casino may be shutting its Gibraltar-based online service as a cost-cutting measure, some industry insiders think that Mansion is now focusing on an offline venture.

But the casino denied its failure to bring in new customers from the sponsorship deal would result in a downgrade of its online service, despite the company being forced to cut jobs late last year.

The four year deal was only signed in the summer of 2006, but the gaming firm now seem set to cut their losses.

Elsewhere in the online gambling world, it was reported by MSN Money that game provider CryptoLogic was seeking to expand its investment in the Asia Pacific markets on the back of a highly successful start to 2007.
