Las Vegas firms have not been put off by Parliament's vote against the government's gambling proposals, it has been revealed.
Large casino firms such as Las Vegas Sands and MGM Mirage still believe that large-scale casino gaming will come to the UK in the long run, the Las Vegas Gaming Wire has suggested.
Last week peers voted 123-120 against the plan to construct a super-casino in Manchester and 16 smaller venues around the UK, but US firms remained confidence over the future of offline gambling.
"We think it's a good market. We'll remain interested and will follow the process and continue to look for opportunities to exercise our business model of a multifaceted, destination resort," Las Vegas Sands spokesman Ron Reese advised, according to the Gaming Wire.
"I think what will happen eventually is government will renew its analysis of this. It is going to continue to see world casino development and a moment will come when cooler heads will prevail," added Alan Feldman, spokesman for MGM Mirage.
MGM Mirage currently holds a total of 831 acres of land in the world's most famous gambling location, the Las Vegas Strip.
