WPT outlines CryptoLogic move

2007-05-10 17:11:35

The head of the World Poker Tour (WPT) has outlined the company's reasons for signing up with online software provider CryptoLogic, citing a superior service and successful history as key factors.

WPT chief executive Steve Lipscomb has said that his firm's previous online software was not powerful enough to cope with demand, something that will change with the new CryptoLogic deal.

The ability to identify the location of gamblers was also of key importance given the ban on US gaming, Mr Lipscomb said, according to CasinoCityTimes.com.

"We've always wanted to work with a company like Cryptologic. We feel confident that our new software and our marketing efforts will lead to success even without the US market," the website cites Mr Lipscomb as commenting.

"We believe over time things will change in the US […] If the US laws change, we will be ready to flip the switch," he added.

CryptoLogic has recently secured agreements with a number of other groups including Chinese and Dutch organisations.
