The UK gambling minister has acknowledged that he does not know what the next steps will be in the nation's bid to install a range of casinos and a sole supercasino in areas around the country.
Richard Caborn admitted that future policy was now unclear after original plans were scuppered by the House of Lords.
In the meantime Prime Minister Tony Blair has admitted that he regretted the fact that Blackpool had not secured the supercasino &ndash which went to Manchester &ndash and said he was hopeful that a further larger venue could be arranged in the future.
But Mr Caborn, speaking to the Manchester Evening News, was less certain of future plans.
"We have not got a position on it at present. The Lords decided not to accept the recommendations and we are still considering what the next step will be," he told the paper.
