Coastal town casino gets revamp

2007-06-04 17:31:16

A casino is south Essex is to get a revamp, beginning this summer, ahead of a grand reopening under the name Maxims.

The refurbishment programme is part of a nationwide plan by Stanley Casinos, the firm that owns the property, to provide a "new type of casino experience", according to the Echo.

"This is part of a nationwide investment and rebranding programme by Stanley Casinos, which aims to provide communities with a new kind of casino experience," said Christine Smart, spokesperson for the firm, according to the newspaper.

"The new venues will be open later this year."

Westcliff Casino in Western Esplanade is the target of the revamp, which will see it take the same name as the Stanley Casinos-operated venue in Kensington and Chelsea area of south-west London.

Stanley has two casinos in Southend, with the Southend Spielers the other venue that the company runs in the coastal town.
