Judicial uncertainty puts Solihull casino on hold

The people of Solihull will have to wait a little longer to see if their town gets a casino, a local newspaper has said.
According to the Solihull News, not until the debate over where Britain's first supercasino will be built can the West Midlands town make definite plans as to its future.
While peers in the House of Lords have expressed a desire to see the creation of the Solihull venue and the other 15 small casinos, government lawyers have ruled out such a move.
The government's deputy chief whip Lord Davies said: "The government is in a difficult position because we could be subject to judicial review if we acted on part of the inspector's report and not on all of it."
NEC Group is in the running to build the casino in Solihull, which will have up to 1,250 unlimited jackpot gaming machines.
According to the Solihull council, a regional casino would generate £350 million over ten years, which would be used to fund other regeneration projects.
