Las Vegas casino to get makeover

2007-07-23 14:02:33

The eye-catching Luxor hotel-casino in the heart of Las Vegas is to get a makeover to keep it in competition with the multitude of other resorts in the city.

Distinctive due to its pyramid shape, the Luxor's interior and accommodation will be the focus of renovations throughout the coming few years.

According to owner MGM Mirage, some $300 million (£145.7 million) will be spent on improvements, such as the addition of nightclubs and restaurants.

Other changes proposed include toning down the resort's Egyptian theme in favour of more adult-orientated amenities.

Avid gamblers who have visited Las Vegas will know that the Luxor is situated on the main strip, which also houses famous resorts such as the Flamingo, the Mirage and Caesars Palace, where the permanent entertainer is Celine Dion.
