2007-07-24 17:44:05

Although players from across the globe take part in the World Series of Poker (WSOP), a man from the UK town of Cleethorpes has come home from the Las Vegas tournament £22,500 richer.

According to the Grimsby Telegraph, Craig Edwards came 282nd and netted the winnings after four days of solid play.

Mr Edwards qualified for the competition by playing poker online.

Of the WSOP tournament, he said it was the greatest experience of his life.

"It was so intense and the pressure was unbelievable," he told the newspaper. "I think I have learned a lot."

Meanwhile, details of the WSOP Europe have now been confirmed, with the opening event set to begin on September 6th.

Leicester Square's Empire casino is set to host the start of the proceedings.
