2007-07-25 17:36:04

The National Poker League (NPL) has announced that the first ever UK Poker Open will be held in London this summer.

Taking place at the famous Loose Cannon Club between August 12th and 18th this year, the NPL 2007 UK Open marks the first event of the NPL 2007 World Circuit Tour.

Introducing the National Poker League to the world, the UK Open will consist of several days of preliminary events and satellite tournaments, climaxing with the main event and its final table on August 18th.

Featuring Texas Hold' em poker with multi-tiers of open play, the final contest at the UK Poker Open will have a £2,500 buy in and an estimated prize pool of £500,000.

Sam Riddle, president of NPL Television, said: "We are extremely pleased that the Loose Cannon Club has partnered with the NPL to host our first international televised poker tournament in Europe."

Other tournaments will take place as part of the NPL 2007 World Circuit Tour in Monte Carlo, Monaco, Manila and Toronto, culminating in the Vegas Open in December. The events will be broadcast worldwide, featuring interviews with the world's top poker players, tips and other useful information for fans.
