Confusion over Swansea casino

There has been growing confusion over the establishment of a new casino in Swansea, local newspaper the Evening Post News has reported.
Swansea council reported to the Post that it had yet to receive a letter from the Culture Secretary James Purnell discussing the plans to license a small casino.
Mr Purnell had earlier commented he would write the letter before drawing up new laws that would allow the licensing and construction of the casino to take place.
The council is so far waiting for the conclusion of a Parliamentary review in September.
But the Department for Culture, Media and Sport argued that the letter had been sent to council leader Chris Holley last week and a copy had also been forwarded to council chief executive Paul Smith.
Last week, Mr Purnell had made a statement to Parliament saying that any local authorities that had a change of heart on whether to go ahead with the licensing of a casino would not be included in the legislation.
