Las Vegas Sands to launch British online casino

Las Vegas Sands Corporation has said it intends to launch an online casino designed specifically for a British audience.

The company believes that by offering a combination of its casino and poker games that it will be able to consolidate its presence in the UK.

Las Vegas Sands will base the operation on the island of Alderney, not far from the coast of mainland Britain.

"This is another opportunity for our company to create greater awareness of our global brands," said Bill Weidner, president of Las Vegas Sands.

"Additionally, as the internet gaming landscape continues to evolve, this effort will put us in a strong position to evaluate and react to other potential opportunities."

Players in the US will not be permitted to access the site.

Nevada-based Las Vegas Sands owns the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino and the Sands Expo and Convention Center, as well as the Venetian Macao Limited, which runs various resorts in Macao.
