After being rejected by the Casino Advisory Panel in the competition to build Britain's first supercasino, a Blackpool organisation is proposing a new regeneration action plan.
Blackpool Task Force aims to revitalise business and enterprise, transform infrastructure and create sustainable communities by working closely with the government.
The task force was created after it became clear that Blackpool was not going to be granted a supercasino license.
Peter Callow, leader of Blackpool Council, said: "Our disappointment in the casino decision has been translated into a very positive plan which would substantially add to the regeneration already taking place in Blackpool."
Blackpool had hoped that the creation of a supercasino would have complemented plans designed to attract substantial private sector investment to the seaside resort.
Also involved in the plan to attract £2 billion of private sector funding is urban regeneration company ReBlackpool.
Last week, it submitted an application to the local council to build two casinos, three hotels and a conference centre on the site of the old Central Station.
