British casino operators are making efforts to improve their food and drink offerings in order to make their businesses more profitable, an expert has said.
According to Christopher Walton, writing for the CatererSearch.com, operators are using culinary improvements to attract more customers and drive up revenues.
For example, a quarter of all employees at London Clubs International (LCI), which runs the Empire in London, are careering staff.
Alex Kaden, LCI's food and beverage director, told the website: "With deregulation we can advertise more liberally, meaning we can now advertise our restaurants and put the address of that restaurant on the advert.
"This means we need to take the food and beverage seriously. We believe that it can create commercial revenues and generate profit."
The comments come as the Majestic Star Casino said that overall revenue in the second quarter rose from £27.8 million to £31.2 million thanks to impressive food and beverage returns.
