Swansea casino party attracts Welsh celebrities

2007-09-07 14:45:58

A number of sports personalities, politicians and other well-known faces attended last night's casino launch party in Swansea.

Among the attendees at Aspers casino were Catherine Zeta-Jones' mother, father and brother, X factor star Ray Quinn, health minister Edwina Hart, ITV Wales presenter Ruth Wignall and Swansea City defender Alan Tate.

Guests of the £13 million casino were greeted by spotlights, a ten-metre red carpet and seven-foot gas flames.

Owner Damian Aspinall told the South Wales Evening Post: "We wanted to make the opening night of Aspers at Salubrious Place a night to remember and I think we achieved that.

"We are delighted to be in such an ambitious and forward-thinking city, where the people love to party. On the evidence of the first night, I would say that we definitely got it right."

Aspers is the biggest casino Wales and includes an entertainments stage, a restaurant, a beauty parlour and three bars.
