Nuneaton campus opens its doors to casino students

2007-10-05 13:45:25

A campus in Nuneaton has opened its doors to students interested in learning about casinos.

The North Warwickshire and Hinckley College, which runs gaming courses at the Bermuda Park Innovation Centre, let potential students have a taste of what it might be like to work in a casino.

Elaine De Christie, the college's gaming academy co-ordinator, told the Coventry Telegraph: "The formation of this academy has come about following the growth of the gaming industry in Britain.

"Since 2002 the casino industry has doubled in size in the UK and this has resulted in a huge skills shortage for the gaming industry."

Students who enrol at the college will learn about games such as roulette and Texas Hold'em, as well as gaming law, etiquette and how to spot a money laundering operation.

North Warwickshire College is not the only education establishment to run casino courses.

The University of Salford in Manchester, for example, runs undergraduate courses in leisure and gambling studies.
