New code of conduct for online gambling

2007-10-08 16:02:23

This year's European i-Gaming (EiG) congress in Barcelona has announced a new code of conduct for online gambling.

Player protection is at the heart of the new measures, along with customer communication, advertising and prevention of underage gambling.

The code has been designed to act as a set of minimum standards throughout the industry and was apparently launched to coincide with the UK Gambling Commission's white list that was announced in last month.

Andrew Poole, managing director of GamCare Trade Services said: "[We] hope that the adoption of this code will better enable the gambling public to make informed decisions with regards to their remote gambling participation, secure in the knowledge that operators are required by condition of license to protect the welfare and enjoyment of their customers."

EiG calls its conference the most important event in Europe for the i-gaming industry.
