Edinburgh casinos allowed to open until 6am

2007-11-01 11:29:19

Casinos in Edinburgh have obtained permission from the licensing board to stay open until 06:00 every morning.

Two Stanley Casinos had applied for extended opening hours and both were granted the right to do so.

Archie McIvor, a spokesperson for the licensing board, said in response to complaints from local residents that "any incidents have been few and far between," the Edinburgh Evening News reported.

Edinburgh has several casinos including Edinburgh Berkeley, Edinburgh York Place and Edinburgh Circus.

Stanley Casinos is the UK's largest casino operator with 46 separate sites across the UK.

It owns the oldest casino the country, Crockfords, which is in London.

The two casinos that Stanley operates in Edinburgh are Circus and York Place, which is also known as Maxims.

Stanley promises that Maxims is the "most sophisticated gaming experience in the UK today".
