Bobcats enter casino

2007-11-05 11:12:59

A bobcat, otherwise known as a Bay Lynx, was found inside the Mandalay Bay Casino Resort and Casino, it has been reported.

Victor Gamboa, a game warden for the Nevada Department of Wildlife, tried to capture the animal which was on the casino premises.

Mr Gamboa failed to capture the animal, but described the attempt to the Las Vegas Review Journal.

"He was just huddled down in the corner just minding his business," he said.

"I never got the noose around it. The closest I got the pole was about a foot away. That's when he took off running."

Apparently bobcats are increasingly entering Las Vegas in search of water, with police shooting one dead in a southwestern part of the city.

The Mandalay Bay is owned by MGM Mirage and is one of the most popular venues for boxing and UFC.

It first opened in 1999 with the convention centre being added in 2003.
