GB Poker Tour grand final

2007-11-06 13:27:43

The Great British Poker Tour (GBPT) grand final is taking place this week.

It began on Monday with a £300 No Limit Hold 'Em Freeze-Out tournament and continues on Tuesday and Wednesday with a £1000 version of the same game.

The main event with its £2500 buy-in begins on Thursday and will finish on Sunday 11th.

Around 200 players are expected to participate in the headline event, with an estimated £165,000 prize package going to the winner, as well as a trip to the World Poker Classic event at the Bellagio in Las Vegas in December.

The event is taking place in Bristol.

One of the directors of the tournament Thomas Kremser said: "So far in the GBPT we've seen some really high standards of poker from local amateurs holding their own against the UK and European pro players.

It'll be a fascinating contest to see what drama will unfold with these star names of world poker in the frame."

Late Night Poker alumni Roland de Wolfe and Barney Boatman are both expected to be there, as well as other world class players like Phil Laak, Jamie Gold and Antonio Esfandiari.
