The Sun takes a look at online gambling

2007-11-12 16:00:40

Tabloid giant The Sun is looking towards online gambling as a way of expanding its business, it has been reported.

Managing director of News Group Papers Mike Anderson, who runs the Sun and News of the World, is on his way to an online gambling conference in Las Vegas "as part of a mission to find yet more lolly", according to the Independent.

The Sun recently launched an online bingo site which Mr Anderson is apparently very excited about.

He said that it is run by "about three people" and has generated £3.8 million in the last fiscal year.

Mr Anderson added: "Put it this way, Sun Bingo makes twice the profits of something like, well, the Evening Standard doesn't make any money.

"I've made more money out of running Sun Bingo online than I ever made out of running the Evening Standard."

Brandrepublic credits him with bringing the newspaper into the computer age.
