A pub in Wigan, west Manchester has seen seven of its poker regulars rise to new heights.
The players are set to appear on live TV in the final of a national competition called the Poker Project.
Seven of the ten top players from the northwest have perfected their craft in The Litten Tree pub in Leigh, reports the Wigan Today newspaper.
One player said that he goes to many poker games in the region but The Litten Tree, which hosts games every Monday night, is his favourite get-together.
Poker player Vicki Riley told the paper: "I was the only woman who came originally but now we have five who come regularly - it's definitely not just for men.
"People used to be surprised when I said I was going to a poker night because they thought it was a man's thing."
The final is taking place at the Broadway Casino in Birmingham and the event will be covered by a crew from Sky TV.
In August, the casino was one of six locations that hosted the UK's first female-only poker tour the Betfred Women's Poker Tour 2007.
