Amateur poker player wins Dusk Till Dawn event

2007-12-06 15:12:22

The opening event of the UK's first ever dedicated poker club, Dusk Till Dawn, has been won by an amateur player from Lincoln, it has been reported.

Steve Reed, who runs a taxi firm, won £15,000 at the tournament, according to the Lincolnshire Echo.

The game lasted over the weekend, eventually ending when Reed won a marathon heads-up that lasted three hours.

He said: "It was a really tough match. We started at 19:00 GMT on Saturday and played through until 05:00 the next morning."

"At that stage the field had been whittled down to 11. Then it was back to it at 17.30 on Sunday, through till 23:00."

Reed won £30,000 in another major poker competition last year.

Dusk Till Dawn will be one of the few venues in Nottingham to be showing the Ricky Hatton v Floyd Mayweather fight on Saturday.
