£35 million casino planned for Great Yarmouth

2007-12-17 14:03:29

Plans for the proposed £35 million Great Yarmouth casino complex have been unveiled, it has been reported.

Containing a hotel and leisure facilities, the Norfolk site will be one of eight 'large' casinos around the country, according to the BBC.

Operator Pleasure and Leisure wish to build the casino south of the town's Pleasure Beach - which they also own - on a disused caravan park.

It is hoped that 1,000 jobs will be created by the project, known as The Edge.

Bids are also being accepted from rival operators and the council is carrying out a survey to find the best possible location for the gambling spot.

The government gave permission to numerous places around the country to build large casinos, while at the same time halting a proposal to build a supercasino in Manchester.

Plans were also approved to build eight 'small' casinos around the UK as well.
