Bournemouth sees new casino proposal

Plans have been unveiled for a new casino in Bournemouth, it has been reported.
The Majestic Casino will go before the licensing board next month, according to the Dorset Echo, with its owners hoping that the Westover Road plans - which will see an old ice rink converted - will be met with approval.
A council spokesperson appeared to be against the development saying that it may create an "over provision and over dominance of gaming activity in Westover Road and would go against its aspirations of providing a variety of quality leisure facilities".
The fears have arisen because the casino will be built opposite a Trevor Osborne Group casino, which is costing £56 million and "is supposed to secure the future of the Pavilion", the paper said.
Luminar Leisure, which owns nightclub chain Liquid, is behind the new casino bid in the large tourist town.
