Loveman 'to remain at Harrah's'

2008-01-08 11:51:54

The chief executive of Harrah's Entertainment Gary Loveman is to remain in charge of the casino operator, it has been reported.

Harrah's, which is the world's largest gaming operation, is currently close to completing its sale to Apollo Management and the Texas Pacific Group.

The news will perhaps be of interest to UK casino-goers, with Harrah's being rumoured to try and purchase bingo operator Rank again sometime in the near future.

Loveman recently led a bid for Rank but was unsuccessful and the UK company now appears to be at the centre of a possible bidding war between Harrah's and Malaysian company Genting, which owns Stanley Casinos.

Based in Las Vegas, Harrah's is the owner of the World Series of Poker, the premier event on the poker calendar with the number of entrants typically over 5,000 and winner's prizes close to $10 million.
