Plans to build a casino at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre in London have been rejected by officials, it has been reported.
Roger Brown, the man in charge of giving planning permission for the site, said that the casino was not right for the area because increased traffic would disturb the locals, according to the Evening Standard.
It is the second time that the Earls Court and Olympia Group have had their £20 million bid turned down.
Nearby resident Cathy Burnaby-Atkins said: "This is fantastic news. It is a real weight off my mind that it has finally been rejected once and for all. It shows that people power has worked.
"It would have been so detrimental. I am delighted that it has been rejected."
It was hoped by the developers that the casino would attract upwards of 750 customers a night and the plans involved a closing time of 07:00 GMT.
The exhibition centre has been the site of numerous big concerts in the past, including those by David Bowie, Pink Floyd and Queen.
