New Leeds casino nears opening

2008-01-11 12:40:10

A new casino in Leeds is close to opening after four years of development, it has been reported.

The Yorkshire Evening Post, which was granted a preview of the new gambling facility in Clarence Dock, said boss Adam Roberts hopes to receive 6,000 visitors every week.

Mr Roberts, along with Maria Slater, is in charge of the Alea casinos, which is owned by London Clubs International - the company behind the new £14 million venture.

Ms Slater said: "We want to attract people who wouldn't normally think of going to a casino for a night out. That is why we are offering very good quality food and drink in a glamorous but welcoming atmosphere.

"And for existing gamers they can still just come in and get on with it in their own comfort zone."

Alea recently opened a club in Nottingham on Upper Parliament Street.
