Poker players need to 'find a fish'

2008-01-15 12:13:39

Poker players looking to be successful online need to find a fish to play against, a casino website has argued.

CasinoTimes.co.uk, describing a fish as "the right player at the right time", gave tips on how to find an opponent that a person has a better chance of beating.

"Keep your ears open for comments and eyes open for chats that might say: "It's about time I get something," "I'm not getting cards," or "I can't hit flops," it said.

"These are the signs of frustration expressed by some people who can't help it when things turn against them."

It also advised to watch out for players apologizing for delays because they are perhaps not paying as much attention to the game as they should and it also said people should look out for automatic raises, checks or calls.

Alternatively, any of these tactics could used by a player to bluff their opponents and make themselves appear like a fish when they are more like a shark.

Bluffs are such an important part of poker that there is a publication called Bluff magazine.
