One of the UK's top poker players, Julian Thew, has become the first play in the history of the UK Poker Tour (UKPT) to win two events following a victory last weekend.
In the first event of the season in Brighton, Thew - who has a European Poker Tour (EPT) title to his name - defeated Karim Louis in the heads-up to win £86,800.
The heads-up lasted a marathon two-and-a-half hours with the Nottinghamshire star coming out on top.
Of the 280 players taking part, 27 finished in the money, including Nik Persaud who won £16,000 for coming sixth and Dave Colclough who took home £1,960 for finishing in 21st position.
Thew's career winnings will now be in the region of $2 million (£1.01 million), as he was rumoured to be close to that mark in 2007.
As well as his many placings at the EPT, Thew also possesses a Grosvenor Grand Challenge title.
