Jeff Kimber took home £83,910 after winning the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) this week.
He won the title, pushing Peter Charalambous, Dharminder Buttar and Nik Persaud into second, third and fourth places respectively during the Walsall event.
Charalambous netted a cool £48,790 for his troubles, while Buttar was £35,160 richer after the tournament's finale. Persaud also won a five-figure sum, taking home £23,680 for his efforts.
Incidentally, fourth-placed Persaud is now the most consistent GUKPT player in history, according to PokerNews.
Explaining the character of the champion Kimber, the publication describes the former journalist from Newcastle as "always friendly and approachable".
GUKPT, which is sponsored by Blue Square Poker, was launched in 2007 and takes in nine Grosvenor or G casino venues throughout the UK. Much of the tour has been covered by Channel 4, taking poker to a UK wide audience.
