The UK's online gamers 'are to benefit from new technology'

2008-03-05 14:52:34

Internet gamers in the UK have an exciting future to look forward to as new technology improves the online gaming market.

At least this is the belief of Warwick Bartlett, chief executive of industry specialist Global Betting and Gambling Consultants.

Mr Bartlett believes there will be advances in how people gamble online in the future, mentioning the evolution of mobiles phones and high-speed broadband connections as two which are happening right now.

"Mobile phone technology is improving all the while so you'll be able to get services on the move," he said.

"You've also got broadband becoming more available which means more video streaming, so you can watch live horse racing in real time."

According to a survey by the UK's Gambling Commission, 8.7 per cent of adults polled claim to have taken part in some form of remote gambling in the 12 months up to September 2007.
