Players prepare for poker show final

2008-03-11 14:33:33

Card players from across Europe will be competing in the PartyPoker Late Night Poker final later on this evening.

With play stretching into the early hours of Wednesday morning, the contestants - including Sweden's Andreas Jorbeck and Ireland's Andy Black - will be playing in front of the Channel 4 television cameras, Poker Player Magazine reports.

The tournament - which has been running since 1999 and has been commended for its use of under-the-table camera shots - is hosted by poker pro, newspaper columnist and presenter Victoria Cohen.

Other players involved in the proceedings are Germany's Eddy Scharf and Surinder Sunar, whose nickname is the Cobra.

Roland de Wolfe, the European Poker Tour champion, and regular tournament player Ian Frazer will also be going face to face at the felt, as the table battles for the $125,000 (£62,000) first prize and a share of the $335,000 total pot.

The second part of the final will be broadcast next week.
