Billionaire Sheldon Adelson and his casino company Las Vegas Sands has won a £4 million lawsuit against one of the UK's biggest selling newspapers.
The Daily Mail is being forced to pay Adelson compensation after admitting that it wrongly made damaging allegations towards the American businessman in 2005, Brand Republic reports.
Adelson commented: "The Daily Mail's article was a wholly unwarranted attack on me and our business. It was based on a lie.
"It was determined that the Daily Mail should be held accountable [and] I am delighted that we have been fully vindicated."
It had been alleged that Adelson - who is worth $26 billion, according to Forbes magazine's estimate - had colluded with Malcolm Glazer during his successful attempt to buy Manchester United.
Adelson claims he has never met Glazer, a fact which helped persuade the Mail to not defend itself in court and issue a public apology.
