Calzaghe asks for blackjack table

2008-04-15 17:07:03

Welsh boxer Joe Calzaghe asked if he could have a Las Vegas blackjack table for his house earlier this week.

The unbeaten champion is in Nevada's gambling capital ahead of his fight with Bernard Hopkins on Saturday and wrote in his column in the Sun that he requested a table from Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino owner Robert Earl.

An advert for the Calzaghe contest, which is sponsored by Planet Hollywood, is emblazoned on the blackjack felt - and will soon be on the way to the fighter's home after Mr Earl granted his wish.

Adverts for the fight are apparently everywhere in the casino, with BBC's Sports Personality of the Year claiming he was stunned when he first saw them.

"I got a shock when I saw the blackjack tables in the casino as they were plastered with images of me and Hopkins from the fight poster," he remarked.

It is Calzaghe's first fight in Las Vegas, something that Lennox Lewis told BBC Sport will possibly put him at a disadvantage.
