Las Vegas roulette attracts champion boxers

2008-04-25 16:05:38

Two renowned boxing personalities have been playing roulette together in Las Vegas, it has been revealed.

David Haye, the unified cruiserweight champion of the world, wrote in his Southwark News column of the time he spent gambling with Roy Jones over the weekend.

Both fighters were in Las Vegas to watch Joe Calzaghe's fight with Bernard Hopkins, with four-weight world champion and future hall-of-famer Jones attending in the hope of fighting the Welshman in the future.

Haye suggested Jones could give Calzaghe a run for his money if he "can still fight as tenaciously as he gambles" and also implied the casino visit was a great chance for him to spend time with his boyhood hero.

"After the fight I was lucky enough to play at the roulette tables with Roy and the whole experience was very surreal," he commented.

Numerous top celebrities were in the gambling city for the boxing on Saturday including Tom Jones and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
