Poker ace makes bad Premier League bet

2008-05-13 16:45:58

Rising poker star Shannon Shorr left Stamford Bridge a little bit poorer on Sunday after misjudging a bet on the Chelsea v Bolton Wanderers game.

Shorr wrote in his blog the morning before the game that he had "bet Chelsea to cover two goals at plus 105", but the Blues' 1-1 draw with Bolton means he has nothing to show for the wager.

The Alabama resident mentioned nothing about it being the final game of the Premier League season and said he needed the bet in order to help him get excited about the match, for which he had obtained tickets.

He claimed that prior to the game he had retired from sports betting, but decided to have a punt for the football.

In other soccer-related gambling news, several of Manchester United's victorious squad, including Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez and Rio Ferdinand were spotted celebrating winning their second consecutive title at the Manchester235 casino.
