Channing and Persaud get thumbs up

Top UK poker players Neil Channing and Nik Persaud have been applauded by one of their sponsors for recent efforts on the European circuit.

Channing - who won the 2008 Irish Poker Open - and Grosvenor UK Poker Tour stalwart Persaud now occupy the top two places in Poker in Europe's monthly best player table, which drew the praise of website Poker Verdict (PV).

The form of the two Londoners has been enough to place them ahead of European Poker Tour Grand Final winner Glen Chorny of Canada.

"Congratulations to PV pros Neil Channing and Nik Persaud," the message read.

Channing is quickly establishing himself as one of the most formidable players in the UK and is in the top 25 in Card Player's player of the year list for 2008.

He has earned over $1.4 million in live tournament prize money so far this year - almost 20 times the amount generated by Persaud.
