UK poker pro fails in bid for triple crown

2008-06-05 15:33:55

Roland De Wolfe is going to have to wait a little while longer to become only the second person in history to win poker's triple crown.

The World Poker Tour (WPT) and European Poker Tour (EPT) titlist came agonisingly close to completing the set in event four of the World Series of the Poker (WSOP), but ended up finishing in fourth position.

Erick Lindgren eventually won the competition, winning his first WSOP bracelet.

De Wolfe is considered one of the UK's best poker players and was the first person to win both WPT and EPT events.

What is missing from the Londoner's $4 million live tournament poker collection, however, is a WSOP bracelet - something which very few British professionals possess.

Only Gavin Griffin has won all three majors of the poker world, but with many weeks left to go in this year's WSOP, De Wolfe will likely have plenty more opportunities yet to reach his goal.
