Crown Casino secures Ramsay coup

2008-06-10 15:09:37

Melbourne's Crown Casino resort will receive some high-profile publicity later this year when it becomes the subject of a documentary starring Gordon Ramsay.

The Michelin-starred chef is to set up his first Australian restaurant at the James Packer-owned venue - and his exploits will be filmed for television, according to Easier.

Ramsay's new eatery, which is to begin developing this month, follows on from the expansion of his restaurant empire in Los Angeles and New York.

Fine dining is considered to be one of the most lucrative sectors for the casino industry and many of the top casinos offer their customers gourmet food.

Joe Robuchon at MGM Grand is one notable example, with the Las Vegas casino-based restaurant one of the few in the world to have a three-star Michelin rating.

Genting Stanley recently employed Jean-Christophe Novelli to improve the standard of its dining facilities by designing an exclusive new menu.
