Marty Smyth of Belfast has joined the small group of players from the UK to win a World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet.
The Northern Irishman took down the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha World Championship, generally considered to be among the most prestigious events in the WSOP.
Smyth earned $859,532 for the victory, just marginally less than his $867,546 winnings from the 2007 Irish Poker Open.
Peter Jetten was Smyth's heads-up victim, following a final table which will air on ESPN later this summer.
Two-time World Poker Tour titlist Michael Mizrachi was third, failing to follow in the footsteps of his brother Robert who won the competition last year.
Billy Argyros was fourth, ahead of Richard Harroch, Kido Pham, Tom Hanlon and Brandon Moran.
Moran was the chip leader before the final table started, but was unable to stay ahead of the field.
Greg Hurst was the only person to go to the rail before him on the last day.
