The UK may not benefit from the changes to the World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event schedule, which has seen the final table for poker's biggest competition moved to November.
At least this is what expert Dave Woods has suggested.
The editor-in-chief of PokerPlayer magazine implied that because US broadcaster ESPN is a major force behind the change, organisers Harrah's Entertainment are likely to only care about how it affects the US, not other countries.
"If it doesn't work for the Brits or the Europeans then I don't think the powers will really care about that," he remarked.
"As long as it works for the Americans and they see big ratings for the show on ESPN then they will consider that a success."
He added that he is unsure whether the tournament will be shown in the UK, due to there being no news yet as to whether it is being carried by a terrestrial station, as well as Sky's apparently frosty relationship with ESPN.
