Tony G's victory in runners-up turbo heat number two yesterday signalled the end of the first round of the Ladbrokes Poker Millions.
The Australian, nicknamed the Mouth from Down Under, overcame the likes of Surinder Sunar and Gorden McGhee to secure a semi-final place at his second attempt, Matchroom Poker reports.
G will return to the Sky Sports studios in December as he looks to earn a seat at his first Poker Million final table.
Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliott, Barny Boatman, Marty Smyth and Liam Flood are the only other semi-finalists to have done this before.
Indeed Smyth, who won his first World Series of Poker bracelet earlier this summer, has managed the feat on two occasions.
He finished runner-up to Joe Beevers in 2007. Ulliott also came second back in 2004, when he lost out to Donnacha O'Dea in the heads-up.
Joining these five men in the next round are Eughan O'Dea, Anthony Hardy, Sammy George, Ciaran O'Leary, Jonus Danilsson, Ross Boatman and Kenneth Sorensen.
