The fact that the remote gambling industry has not appeared to grow much over the last year is not bad news for the industry, according to one expert.
Remote Gambling Association business director Brian Wright claimed that it was "inevitable" that the gaming sector would plateau in the end because there are simply not enough people to sustain the steep incline seen in recent years.
The latest figures from the UK Gambling Association show that the number of people taking part in remote gaming remained at 8.8 per cent between June 2007 and June 2008.
But because the percentage is not going down, Mr Wright suggested the industry does not have anything to worry about.
"It's remained static so it's a good thing and not a negative. We haven't seen a decline or anything," he commented.
A large percentage of the remote gambling market is taken up by the National Lottery.
Without that, just five per cent of the UK's population have participated.
