British poker ace Julian Thew has been shortlisted in the best performance category at the European Poker Tour (EPT) Awards, which take place in Barcelona next week.
The Nottingham card sharp, who goes by the nickname Yo-Yo, won EPT Baden in October 2007 and received 670,800 ($971,000) for his troubles.
He defeated Denes Kalo, a best newcomer nominee, in the heads-up to become the sixth Englishman to win an EPT tournament.
No other UK competitors have been put up for an EPT accolade, although two of the four-man judging panel who will decide the awards hail from the country.
Victoria Coren, who won EPT London back in 2006, and Tour founder John Duthie both have a say in who the gongs will go to, along with PokerNews editor-in-chief John Caldwell and Lee Jones, both of whom hail from the US.
The poker writers award and people's choice awards will be decided by a public vote.
