Las Vegas is still the place to go as far as British gamblers are concerned, an expert has suggested.
Chris Marais, editor of Total Gambler magazine, said that the Nevada destination remains the most popular long-haul casino destination, despite Macau, China having overtaken it in recent year's as the world's richest gaming destination.
According to Mr Marais, Macau is unlikely to ever replace Las Vegas as the most popular location for British gamblers to go to, as it lacks the shows and excursions that help make the Strip so attractive.
"It's a long way away and UK gamblers will go for what they know - and Vegas is very popular," he remarked, adding that the relative weakness of the dollar and the language barrier have an affect on where people wish to go as well.
Casinos in Macau took almost £6 billion in revenue in 2007, according to the latest statistics from the Macau Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.
